Guest Lecture to Palangkaraya University Regarding IoT for Industrial Agriculture
The team from PT Precision Agriculture Indonesia (PAG) conducted a guest lecture at Palangkaraya University on the topic of Internet of Things (IoT) for Industrial Agriculture, introducing students to the latest technological developments transforming modern agricultural practices. The session aimed to bridge academic knowledge with industry applications by showcasing how IoT technologies are being utilized to support more efficient, productive, and sustainable agricultural systems. During the lecture, participants were introduced to the fundamentals of IoT and its growing role in industrial-scale agriculture. The discussion covered the integration of sensors, embedded systems, wireless communication, cloud platforms, and data analytics for real-time monitoring of environmental and crop conditions. Examples included the measurement of temperature, humidity, rainfall, soil conditions, solar radiation, and other critical parameters that influence agricultural productivity.
The PAG team also shared practical experiences from the development and deployment of smart agriculture technologies, including automatic weather stations, environmental monitoring systems, and IoT-based decision support tools. Through these case studies, students gained valuable insights into how data collected from the field can be transformed into actionable information that supports farm management, risk mitigation, and resource optimization. A key focus of the lecture was the importance of digital transformation in addressing current agricultural challenges such as climate variability, resource efficiency, and the increasing demand for food production. Students were encouraged to explore how emerging technologies, including IoT, artificial intelligence, and data analytics, can contribute to innovative solutions for the agricultural sector.
The interactive session provided an opportunity for students and faculty members to engage directly with industry practitioners, discuss current technological trends, and explore potential research and collaboration opportunities. Through activities such as this guest lecture, PT Precision Agriculture Indonesia continues to support the development of future professionals by promoting knowledge exchange between academia and industry while fostering innovation in smart and sustainable agriculture.
